Useful Tricks

A great way to make the most of your stay is to embrace self-catering from the apartments. A good tip is to visit one of the markets in Cunit or Vilanova i la Geltrú. You will get fantastic fresh local produce, seafood, cheeses, and a bottle of Cava from the region of Penedès. Then, make full use of the communal barbecue facilities amidst the lovely garden at Can Torrents for an excellent and truly Spanish ‘night out’ meal. Having dinner outside by the pool is unforgettable and does not cost much.

Make the most of the location by using Cunit’s local train station for a convenient stress-free day trip into the great city of Barcelona. The R2 Sud train line makes for direct, scenic travel right into the heart of the city; e.g., the station at Passeig de Gràcia. This way, you can spend a full day exploring Gaudí’s architecture, the Gothic Quarter, and Las Ramblas and return in the evening to peace and quiet in your apartment in Cunit, rather than shelling out for a hotel in the city center and coping with all that noise.

To have the best beach experience one has to explore the coast. The main Cunit beach is okay but a short drive or longer walk to the south lies beautiful Calafell with a nice long promenade and an ancient castle standing on a hill above the sea with views across the sea. In the other direction is Sitges world-class for its fine, golden beaches staggering out along its lively shore. Basing in Cunit lets you ‘beach hop’ and check out different spots along the Costa Dorada.

Lastly, the advice includes allotment of some time to relax and do nothing. The garden and swimming pool at Can Torrents are indeed an oasis. After several days filled with a lot of sightseeing, one must spend the entire afternoon just by the pool reading a good book and soaking up the serene, homely feeling. This feeling of calm and rest is one of the best features of the property and a vital part of the real Spanish holiday experience it offers.
